On October 26, 2023, at the invitation of Driftless Development, Inc, the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) Secretary Randy Romanski learned more about agriculture in Crawford County, with an emphasis on the northern portion of our County. Joining us was WI Senator Brad Pfaff, Wisconsin State Representative Loren Oldenburg, a representative from United States Representative Derrick Van Orden’s office, local farmers and others involved in a variety of agricultural enterprises in our County. Sunrise Orchards was one of the stops made that day!
The group made stops at Off Word Mushroom Farm, 1913 Kickapoo Orchard, Eastman Locker LLC, Prairie du Chien Opportunity Center and Canopy Tree Farm Greenhouse.
Lunch was held at the Gays Mills Community Center with Connect Communities Gays Mills.
Sunrise Orchards is a multi-generation family owned apple orchard that grows more than 21 varieties of apples, plus legendary apple cider donuts, caramel apples, apple cider, hundreds of specialty foods, a gift shop, a playground and even a dog park. Visiting Sunrise Orchards is a yearly tradition, for thousands of people, across generations.
