Fun Apple Facts for Kids

apple icon Apples come in lots of colors!  Not just red —some are yellow, pink, or even striped.

apple icon Each apple has its own “personality.”  Some are super sweet (like Honeycrisp & Gala) others tart (like Dudley), and some are perfect for baking (like Honeycrisp or Gala).

apple icon Apples are part of the rose family.  That’s right—apples are cousins to roses, along with pears and quince.

apple icon Johnny Appleseed was a real person!  His name was John Chapman, and he planted apple trees across the U.S. in the 1800s.

apple icon Apples can be starry inside.  Cut an apple in half across the middle, and you might see a star shape formed by the seeds!

apple icon Did you know that if you eat a lot of apple seeds they may be toxic to your body? Never eat a lot of the seeds. 

apple icon In spring, apple trees grow pretty flowers called blossoms.

apple icon Bees pollinate the flowers so seeds can start to grow inside.  When the pretty blossoms turn brown and fall, that’s when the apple starts to grow!
